Four Letter Lie have been gigging in high gear since the
start of 2005 from Taste of Chaos to Warped Tour, to their two recent national treks,
their yowling, crunching post-hardcore is getting all the tighter for it.
"We have always been a band who works as hard as we can
at what we do and I think that‘s something people start to notice after awhile,"
states guitarist/vocalist Kevin Skaff. The other gentlemen who are helping Skaff lead by
example are: Brian Nagan (vocals), John Waltmann (bass), Derek Smith (drums) and Connor
Kelly (guitar).
With their scream along choruses, monster breakdowns, and unexpected, yet well balanced
soft side, Four Letter Lie have built a dedicated, and loyal local fan-base from the
ground up as well as a strong nationwide audience. "We
like to melt faces," explains Kelly about their high flying, guitar spinning live
show.
The band has even locked up with the amazing Rezistance Clothing from California (who
also sponsors such bands as Finch, Avenged Sevenfold, and Dead Poetic) to help them out
along the way.
The band independently put out their first EP in May of 2005 entitled Her Escape, already selling close to 1,500 copies.
"This release from Minnesota‘s Four Letter Lie sums up
everything that we‘ve become familiar with in melodic hardcore, and does it
perfectly," raves AMP Magazine.
Four Letter Lie sees no reason of slowing down. The band just got out of the studio with
producer extraordinaire Michael Birnbaum (Underoath/Copeland/The Chariot) at highly
acclaimed Glow in-The Dark Studios. "Recording with
Michael Birnbaum was probably one of the most exciting things we have experienced thus
far as a band," says Waltmann. "A lot of bands
we are influenced by have spent time in that studio."
The band has recently achieved great things by being one of the four featured unsigned
bands in January‘s issue of Alternative Press Magazine, and have also been selected by
fans to perform for the second year in a row at Taste Of Chaos.
Don‘t lose sight of this band. From what you can see, the best is yet to come.
"We try to work together collectively 110% in
everything that we do and so far it‘s leading us in a positive direction," says
Brian Nagan.
